And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

-Genesis 1:3

Taking another look at it with a knowledge of physics, I think it’s interesting that light was the first thing that God chose to create.

Any physicist you ask has a little something to say about light. In short, light is a bit funny.

  1. Its speed in a given medium or lack thereof is constant no matter what inertial frame is chosen (basis for relativity).
  2. It is the only kind of wave that needs nothing else to exist (see Maxwell’s Equations).
  3. It’s both a particle and and wave (“photon”).

It just is interesting to see how it parallels some of God’s characteristics

  1. Unchanging
  2. Eternal: Alpha & Omega
  3. Trinity: 3 entities, 1 God

I think the last is a good illustration to shed a bit more light on the mystery that is the Trinity

Contemplatively,
Tim

Parting thoughts:

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

-Romans 1:20
